I am helping to raise my infant granddaughter. I spend my days helping her with her developmental skills, like sitting (check); standing (with assistance, check) and scooting (just started). She is comely, and that means everything to her parents. I am focused on her inner being, though, and I see a very keen intelligence. I also see her bullshit meter, and how it already filters how she reacts to people. I fully intend to stoke her intellect and encourage that B/S meter.

Good article, necessary article, the perfect reminder, Elizabeth! There are advantages to be 88 years old, and look it. Nobody looks at the "package", my looks, and stay there. People either move on to other subjects or stop to take a look at what I have to say. ---

Another advantage came for me when I late in life completely identified as soul, a move which included everyone else as well. Which of course means that when I encounter people, souls, what interests me is who they are at the deeper levels – an unending and fascinating journey to find out.

I have not met you, but how you look can be covered in a glance. Who you ARE, cannot. ---

The wonder begins when one can find out who a person is, what makes them tic, what they think about life, what their challenges are, etc. To only surf the surfaces I think leads to boredom. To dive a little deeper is a challenge with never-ending surprises and rewards in tow. ---

What I have in mind is a reorientation which might ultimately produce people who don't look at you as if you were a pretty trinket to acquire. Love, Maria
