Great story. Life often gives us wounds. Some are visible, some not. Both kinds are parts of being human. The important part I think is to not keep ay wounds alive, but allow them to become scars. Thank you for sharing. Love, Maria

Great example of how impactful the way we frame painful experiences is our children. I'm a single mother who adopted my boy when he was three. He already had trauma behind him, so I had to give him alternative narratives to what being in foster care and adopted meant while also not downplaying it's impact AND frame our coming together as a meaningful part of a larger whole. He got it. Now he's 25, and self-determination and the belief that his struggles make him stronger are part of his character. On the verge of becoming of a father, he's thinking about what it means to be a good man and what he'll pass onto his son. Phew!
